The Common Sense Nutrition Program
Common Sense Nutrition
by: William W. Lockhart, nutritional researcher

Phase 1:

I would stay on phase one until my health had improved to where all the symptoms of disease were under control. This is a sign that the systemic fungus infection is dying off. I would expect to experience some die off reaction during the first two or three weeks of this program.

Headaches, fatigue, nausea, etc. It is because the dying fungi release mycotoxins into the system. That is why it is so important to drink AT LEAST two quarts of pure water, not tap, daily! It helps to rid the body of toxins.

There are certain food items that feed fungus and I would eliminate them from the diet completely during phase one. Read the ingredient labels on products and don't buy anything that contains these items. They include: · Sugar, or artificial sweeteners of any kind, or anything that contains them! Dextrose, lactose(milk sugar), sucrose (cane sugar), fructose (fruit sugar), maltodextrin, (a refined carbohydrate made from corn), corn syrup, maple syrup or maple sugar, honey, etc.(This means no drinks of any kind that contain any kind of sugar or sweetener. Also no fruit juices.)

· Breads, or anything else with yeast in it!
· Alcoholic beverages or foods
· Any type of mushroom
· Potatoes, of any kind!
· Grains: Wheat, corn, rice, oats, groats, rye, pasta, none!!
· All fruits, except for berries, grapefruit, lemons, limes, and Granny Smith apples
· Coffee, of any kind
· Legumes (beans, peas, etc.)
· Peanuts and pistachios
· Soy products of any kind! (texturized vegetable protein, soy sauce, soy beans, etc)
· Vinegar, except for undistilled, apple cider vinegar
· Milk and cheese
· Shellfish, (oysters, clams, crab, lobster, shrimp, squid)
· MSG, monosodium glutamate It is not a spice, it is a chemical drug called an excitotoxin because it excites the sensory receptors in the brain so much it kills them.
· Pork
· Dried fruits, raisins, dates, figs, etc.
· Anything that is pickled or preserved
· Margarine, shortening or any other hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. They contain trans-fatty acids, which clog the arteries worse than animal fats ever did. 4

Phase 2:

Phase 2 is just like phase 1, except on phase 2 certain foods can be added back to the diet:

  • · Sourdough toast, (with absolutely no yeast added to it)
    · Unleavened, whole grain bread (middle eastern flatbread, not pita)
    · Legumes, but watch for any of the old symptoms returning and cut back if they do.
    · Also, whole grains, brown rice, millet, oats, and quinoa can be eaten, but don't overdo it.
    · A little bit of honey, occasionally.
  • At any time if I were losing too much weight, or losing too rapidly, I would put more legumes into the diet, except for peanuts.

On both phases of the program:

For sweetening foods I use Stevia, a natural sweetener they have used for centuries in South A merica. It is up to 300 times sweeter than sugar. It has no carbohydrates at all and is actually good for you. It can be obtained at most health-food stores. It comes in raw green powder, white powder, or liquid form. DO NOT buy the individual packets, since they are not pure Stevia, but are mixed with other ingredients which promote fungus. It has a very slight saccharin aftertaste, but one quickly gets use to it. It is sold as a supplement only, since the powerful chemical industry, (makers of nutrasweet and the like) lobbied hard to keep the FDA from approving it as a sweetener. That will probably change in the near future, though, because the patent on Aspartame has expired now. (How did Aspartame receive approval in the first place? Follow the money trail, Dr. Friedman the director of the FDA when aspartame was approved, quit the FDA in 1999 and went to work for G. D. Searle as a senior vice president at a purported cushy $500,000 a year. Aspartame contains methyl alcohol, which breaks down into formaldehyde and formic acid. Formaldehyde causes cellular DNA damage and cancer. Formic acid can cause leg cramps, back pain, severe headache, abdominal pain, labored breathing, vertigo and visual loss. Many people are mis-diagnosed with MS when all they have is aspartame poisoning. For more information, do an Internet search on "Aspartame Poisoning." It's not about health, ….It's about money!)

  • · I eat plenty of fresh vegetables. (Organically grown wherever possible) Broccoli, celery, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, Brussels sprouts, onions, garlic, tomatoes, peppers, cukes, squash, etc, but not potatoes or sweet potatoes.
    · It is important to get plain yogurt, with the live bacterial cultures in it. (not non-fat yogurt) Dannon plain premium yogurt is okay, but the brands in the health food store are usually much better. (My favorite is Brown Cow plain cream-top yogurt.) When eaten on a daily basis it will start replacing the intestinal bacterial cultures that are necessary for proper digestion of food. They also help to keep fungus under control. Many people who have been healthy all their lives start to get chronically ill after receiving some kind of drug that destroys this bacteria culture, such as: cortisone, birth control pills, antibiotics, steroids. Most of these drugs are produced from fungus. Once this bacteria culture is killed, the fungus in the body starts to grow unchecked until it gets into the blood stream (we call this systemic), where it can cause many different sorts of problems and symptoms.
    · The ONLY dairy products I eat are:
Yogurt made from whole milk (not non-fat)
Sour cream (real sour cream, not non-fat or low fat stuff)
    Butter
    Cream cheese or Neufchatel cheese
    · Meats:
Real, lean meats only. No luncheon meats or processed meats, no bacon or sausage (they have sugar and sodium nitrites added) If I had to fry foods I would use only virgin olive oil or virgin coconut oil. If I just had to have pork, I would only eat the leanest cuts I could get and not have it very often.
·We use only virgin coconut oil, olive oil and butter for cooking ---- no shortenings. We also take about an ounce of flax seed a day for the beneficial omega 3 fatty acids it provides. We put about ½ cup of flax seeds in the blender and pulverize them really well. This ground up flax can be used on your salads (it has a very mild flavor) or added to soups, casseroles and meat dishes, even desserts. We used to take flax oil, but have discovered in recent research that the oil causes a lot of free-radical cell damage, but it is minimized with the ground seed.
    · Eggs are fine, but never raw.
    · The only fruit we eat is grapefruit, lemons, limes, and green apples (Granny Smiths).
    · Berries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, gooseberries, raspberries etc. are okay! Raw figs (not dried), no dried fruits of any kind. It concentrates the sugar too much.
    · Raw seeds and nuts are great, except for peanuts and pistachios.
    · When we eat out, which can be a real problem on this program, we have learned which restaurants we can go to. We usually get steak or chicken with steamed or grilled veggies, and for salad dressing we get real sour cream and put salt and pepper and a little lemon juice on it. For drinks, we take along a little bottle of liquid stevia, and order water with lemon or lime and sweeten it.

    1. If cholesterol was the real problem, and you had clogged arteries, all of the arteries in your body would be clogged. This is not the case. The typical western diet does not supply the nutrients that are essential for strong, flexible arteries, so they become damaged at the areas of greatest stress, such as around the heart. The damaged areas give the cholesterol something to stick to. Therefore, the real problem is not cholesterol, but damaged arteries. There are three nutrients that are essential for healthy arteries: Lysine, Vitamin C and copper. Your body cannot produce these, so they must be included in your daily diet. The typical amount I would take for supplementation is 3000 milligrams of Lysine and Vitamin C. Along with it, a good source of copper, such as a multi-mineral supplement, or liquid colloidal minerals. If there is already heart disease present, I would double the dose.
    2. Caprylic acid is a nutritional fatty acid made from coconut oil and is a powerful anti-fungal agent.
    3. Coconut oil has gotten a lot of bad rap over the years, but it is all because of tests done over 40 years ago that used only hydrogenated coconut oil. All hydrogenated oils contain trans-fatty acids, which are extremely harmful to the body. This includes shortenings, margarine, mayonnaise, and anything else that has hydrogenated oil in it. Virgin, unrefined coconut oil is 7% caprylic acid and as much as 50% Lauric acid. These two are the ingredients in mother's milk that are so beneficial to the health of an infant. Also, coconut oil, even though it is a saturated fat, is a medium-chain fatty acid, which is used by your body immediately for energy, will not clog the arteries, and doesn't turn rancid. The same qualities that keep it from turning rancid also keep it from producing large amounts of cell damaging, DNA altering, free radicals in your body. It also has very beneficial effects on the thyroid gland. Many people with hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid) have been helped by switching to virgin, unrefined coconut oil.

There are wonderful articles by Dr. Mary Enig, Dr. Raymond Peat, and Dr. Stephen Byrnes on some of the great disease-fighting benefits of coconut oil. Some of it is in scientific and medical terminology, but they are full of great information. I've posted them at the following sites. If you want to read them, go to:

    4. Trans fatty acids are man-made artificial fatty acids produced in the hydrogenating process. This is what solidifies the oil into margarine or shortening. Trans fatty acids are very harmful to your health. They have been medically proven to clog arteries.

  • It's not about health....it's about money!

There’s too much money being made by the food, pharmaceutical, medical and health industries for them to be completely honest and unbiased in the interpretation of their research. If a research facility is receiving funds from a pharmaceutical concern to find something or to prove something; that is what they will try to do. If they find the opposite they will lose the funding that keeps them in business. If their real concern was the health and well being of the people, their research would be totally unbiased in nature and they would be free to discover the truth about nutrition. Instead they are only interested in how someone can make a huge profit from their discoveries. Cancer research has become a multi-billion dollar a year industry, employing thousands and thousands of people around the world.
Sickness and disease, rather than being the scourge of mankind, have become the very engine that drives a huge international industry that is making fortunes off the pain and suffering of people around the world.
If I were a contractor going out to give someone an estimate for a job, I would want to give them a good job they would be happy with, but I would also try to make as much money off that job as I could. It’s that way in every industry. That is only natural. Why do we expect anything else from the medical industry? They may be concerned with your health, but their number one goal, what keeps them going is how much money can they make.
In 1934 a man named Charles Pogue invented a carburetor that made a car go 200 miles on a gallon of gasoline. (I have a copy of the plans for that carburetor in my possession.) The petroleum industry tried to buy him out, but he would not sell, so his shop was broken into and his castings and molds destroyed. He died without ever seeing his invention reach the public. The same thing happens in the medical and nutritional fields. I have read over and over again how medical and nutritional research that could greatly benefit mankind has been scoffed, ridiculed and hidden away just to keep some corporation from losing money. The medical breakthroughs of people like Royal Rife, Rene Caisse, and others have been squashed to keep people from learning how they have been treated like a commodity rather than as fellow human beings. Keep us ignorant like good sheep and you can continue fleecing us, but let us gain the knowledge you have hidden from us and we will no longer support your industry with our dollars.

    Whatever happened to common sense?

It is no secret that sugar is not good for you. Almost everyone would agree with that statement and common sense would tell us not to eat it, yet the average American consumes 110 pounds of it annually. This is insanity. The average soft drink contains more than ten teaspoons of it. Add to that the huge amounts of sweets and other foods that contain it and you are looking at one of the main reasons for poor health.

Unsaturated fats have been blamed for everything from heart disease to cancer, but common sense would not agree. Past generations ate a lot of saturated fats, yet they did not have the high rates of these maladies that are prevalent in society today. There are many examples of indigenous people groups around the world who have diets that are rich in saturated fats but have very little or no heart disease. Eskimo groups that have stayed with their traditional diets of whale and seal blubber have up to 65% of their diets as saturated fats, yet they do not have heart problems until they start eating things that have been introduced by our more "civilized" cultures. Since we have been brainwashed into thinking low fat diets were good for us, heart disease has become the number one killer in the western world.

Something has gone seriously wrong with the medical, nutritional and health fields in society today. Instead of them looking for ways to keep us healthy, they have become parasites. The only way they can stay in business is for us to stay sick. Let’s look back to a time when these plagues of disease did not overwhelm us and find out how people ate then. That is the key to finding good nutrition. Past generations were taught to eat healthy by their parents, who learned from their parents, who learned from theirs. Today we are taught to eat by commercials. Hour after hour of companies promoting the benefits and value of their products across the airwaves brainwashing us into the obedient consumers they want us to be. I say it’s time for us to take over the responsibility for our own health and of those we love.

First, let me say that I am not a medical doctor. The factual information shared here has been garnered over three decades of personal studies into health and nutrition. If all of the hours of study and research had been done in a university, it would have earned at least a bachelor’s degree by now. One advantage of not being institutionally trained is that a predetermined path did not direct my studies. There were no corporations or industries directing my education so their products would have another salesperson. There is no drug, pharmaceutical or chemical company getting rich off this information, so you can trust that, at the very least, it is unbiased. My purpose in the pursuit of this knowledge was how to get and stay healthy.

Because of the things I have discovered, I feel it would be immoral and possibly criminal for me to continue to watch those around me continue to suffer with diseases and conditions that are completely preventable and not share this valuable, life saving information with them.

(Legally required disclaimer goes here..) In order to prevent the powers that be from coming after me for practicing medicine without a license, I must give the following legal disclaimer: I am not a physician or a diagnostician. Therefore, any information given here is for informational purposes only and is not to be considered medical or diagnostic advice. If you have a medical condition, try to find a medical practitioner who thoroughly understands the link between nutrition and health, and the dangerous affects that fungus can have on our bodies, our minds and our emotions.

Why doesn't my doctor know this?

The medical profession does not have the answers to disease. Most medical doctors have very little, if any, instruction on correct nutrition. Medical schools do not teach proper nutrition. There is a reason for this: their funding comes from the major pharmaceutical companies. Because of this, they teach their students to treat symptoms with drugs and medications. They will not teach doctors how to prevent disease by correcting the diets of their patients. If they were to begin to teach this they could lose most of the funding they receive from the pharmaceutical industry. Many good people with good intentions go into the medical profession. They have a sincere desire to help hurting people to get well. They do not know that the schools that are training them have been sold to the highest bidder. It’s no longer about health --- It’s about money!! The powerful drug and chemical industry has bought and paid for our medical universities and the AMA, our only medical licensing facility. My ex-brother-in-law, who is a Harvard medical school graduate, says he was taught that anyone who teaches that you can prevent or cure disease with diet or vitamins is a quack. Fortunately, there are many researchers and medical practitioners today who have discovered the important role a correct diet plays on maintaining good health. I've studied some of the work of researchers, such as Doug Kaufmann,  Dr. Mary Enig,  Dr. Bruce Fife,  Dr. Stephen Byrnes, and  Raymond Peat, which has completely convinced me that my former brother -in-law was wrong.

Treating symptoms instead of the underlying cause is like taking a pain medication for a thorn. It stops the pain, but the thorn is still there. If left there, it can cause severe infection. Let's remove the thorn!!

What you're eating may be eating you.

What if I were to tell you that something you probably eat all the time is slowly killing you? Would that change the way you eat? What if I were to inform you that this same thing is the cause of most degenerative diseases? Would that get your attention?

Obesity is not a disease. It is a symptom of an underlying condition, which may be considered a disease. It may be hypothyroidism, hyperinsulinism, or a combination of both. When we try to correct a diseased condition by treating the symptom, it’s like patching holes in a termite infested house without treating it for termites. You may get it to look good for a while, but the cause of the problem is still there. All you’ve done is make it look better. If it is left untreated, the house will eventually fall down around you. Treating the symptoms is exactly what the medical industry does. In order to gain and maintain health, you must get to the underlying cause of the outward symptoms and correct it. That’s why we say this is not a diet to lose weight. It is a total change in the way we eat. It is a program for health. A healthy body will not keep excess weight. A healthy body will heal itself of nearly all disease. One has to be committed to regaining and maintaining health for this to work.

You may be saying, "I’m not fat, though." Just because you are not experiencing the symptom of obesity does not mean you are in good health. You may be like the house I mentioned above and the termites just haven’t damaged areas that are visible yet. Give them enough time and they will. You also may be having other health problems, such as headaches, chronic fatigue, acid reflux (acidosis), indigestion, constipation, asthma and other allergies, attention deficit disorder, mental confusion, etc. If left untreated it can lead to many very serious conditions, such as diabetes, Grave's disease, Hodgkin's disease, Parkinson's disease, Epstein Barr syndrome, leaky gut and many others. The list goes on and on. If you are not having any symptoms yet, then you are at the perfect time to start doing something to prevent yourself from ever having to go through the pain and suffering that millions of people go through on a daily basis. You can continue to eat the way you have been eating all of your life and you will suffer the consequences of an unhealthy, diseased body, or you can find out what your body needs to maintain good health and begin to feed yourself correctly and live a long, healthy vibrant life. The choice is up to you. Take control of your life. Millions of people have recovered from some very dangerous, life threatening conditions by just correcting their diets. I have personally been witness to many chronic conditions being totally cured, just by changing to a correct diet: diabetes, high blood pressure, Parkinson’s-like symptoms, indigestion and acid reflux, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic respiratory congestion, sinus conditions, headaches, obesity, and others. I have seen people regain control of their health and their lives. Stop allowing the drug companies to get rich off of your sickness and disease. Cholesterol is not the big nasty villain it has been made out to be. Years ago, it was not considered unusual to have a cholesterol reading above 300; yet, there was little heart disease. Cholesterol is a good and natural substance that our own livers produce because our bodies need it to function properly. Cholesterol is necessary for the proper functioning of cells, muscles and nerves, it helps the body to produce hormones and vitamin D, it lubricates the joints, and has many other functions, one of which is that it absorbs some of the toxins that have entered the bloodstream. It is this last characteristic of cholesterol that concerns us. It absorbs toxins from the bloodstream.

    There's a fungus amongus!

Cholesterol lowering medications work because they are anti-fungal drugs. Unfortunately, they also damage the liver. We all have different sorts of toxins floating around in our bloodstreams. One of the main killers is mycotoxins. They are the waste products of fungi.

Mycotoxins are some of the deadliest substance on Earth. (Saddam Hussein, and others like him, have stockpiled tons of the stuff to use as biological warfare agents against their enemies.) Cholesterol absorbs many of these mycotoxins. It’s one of the ways your body has to protect itself from the damaging effects of these killers. The reason cholesterol lowering drugs lower cholesterol is because they are anti-fungal drugs. They kill fungus, so there is less mycotoxin in the blood. Your liver senses this and stops producing as much cholesterol. The problem with these drugs is that they also severely damage the liver. Cholesterol lowering drugs should only be taken in a life or death situation, and then only for a very short time. There is only one drug that is considered safe to use for this, Nystatin. It has been in use for over 50 years and there have been no serious health problems associated with it. Unfortunately, the patent has run out on it, so it has become a generic drug and no one is making a lot of money off it, so it has fallen out of favor with the medical establishment. (That’s why you are always seeing new drugs coming out. It’s not that the old ones don’t work, they just stopped making money off them.) It’s not about health ---- it’s about money!!

There are also natural substances that kill fungus or reduce its levels in the body. We use grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, caprylic acid, and Pau d’arco. They are available in most health food stores. There are blends of these anti-fungal herbs made by several different companies available. We also have switched to using virgin coconut oil for cooking (more on this later.)

Fungus infections can and do cause most of the major diseases we find so rampant in our society today. There have been studies which have shown conclusively that fungus can and does cause diabetes, cancer, thyroid problems, respiratory ailments, such as asthma and emphysema, neurological disorders, including Parkinson-like problems and many, many others. Mold-related medical studies include one in 1999 from the Mayo Clinic that determined that most chronic sinus infections are caused by mold. In addition, it can and does cause many symptoms that we think of as psychological or mental disorders, such as hyperactivity, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, and many others.

Sugar and other refined carbohydrates are poison to your system. They feed fungus, which feeds on you and poisons you. Before the rise of refined carbohydrates in the diet, people lived healthy lives. Most major diseases can be traced right back to the introduction of refined carbohydrates and over-processed foods into the mainstream diet.
